Bed bugs belong to the genus Cimex. They feed on human blood at night but can also feed during the day.
Signs of Bed Bugs
If you notice dark blood spots on your sheets its likely you have bed bugs. You will also see them within the crevice of your mattress along with dark brown to black spots of their excrement. These same signs can also be seen on walls near bedding. Bed bugs give off a strong musty smell that will be noticed if bed bugs are infesting your home.

Bed bugs can enter your home if you have traveled somewhere that was infested and brought some back home with you. They can also hitch a ride on used furniture that was infested and even on people who are around an infestation. They like to hide in dark, small crevices in mattresses, baseboards or behind outlets.
